A NEW JOB FOR AN OLD DRESSER - FOLLOW UP

A few weeks ago, I shared a spot in our bedroom that was getting a refresh. Read that post here. We had a dark, older piece of furniture housing our television in the master bedroom, and we swapped it out with the dresser our daughter didn't take to college.

I had this medallion that I wanted to use, but I didn't want it to be black hanging over a black television. Spray paint to the rescue.

POTATO CASSEROLE

Today's recipe will work for any occasion. It's made with hash brown potatoes and would go great with eggs and bacon, or it can be served as a lunch or dinner side next to almost any menu item. My picky eater even liked it--after adding ketchup. :-)

INSPIRING OUTDOOR SPACES

I didn't spend much time on my outdoor spaces this summer. But I've seen some really pretty inspiring photos here and there from others who did. Sharing a few of my favorites today. You may see something you like, too...

A SUNDAY THOUGHT...FEELING ANXIOUS

Feeling anxious these days? Me, too. It only takes about three minutes of face time with the television or social media to send my stomach into a tail spin. I immediately worry about my kids and their kids and their kids. The chaos we can see causes me to fret, and it's taking up more and more of my brain power, and more and more of my time. It's making it hard to dwell on what I cannot see--the eternal things.

WHAT I'VE PAINTED LATELY

I thought I would show you how three things I've painted this summer turned out. They're all part of what I call my "lighter and brighter" plan. I'm trying to lighten up some of the rooms and furnishings in our home to create brighter spaces. It's been going on for quite some time now. :-)

A TOUR OF THE RESTORED DRISH HOUSE

A few months ago I came across the Drish house on Facebook. I immediately recognized the decaying, pink house. I've passed by it many times in Tuscaloosa, but I knew absolutely nothing about the stately, aging beauty. I was thrilled to discover that it was being restored. I began following the progress of the restoration, and my mom and I attended the open house and ribbon cutting ceremony in June.

I thought I would give you a tour and tell you a little about the house that is now a strikingly beautiful event venue.

TWO TIPS FOR TUESDAY

Tip #1 - I've tried a great new nail polish. The brand is JULEP. I've been using OPI for years on my toes, but I never really use color on my fingernails. My nails are usually painted clear with this miracle polish I told you guys about this time last year. However, I decided to venture out and paint with a bright color when a sweet student gave me a gift of goodies that included this bottle of polish tucked away in the bottom of the basket.

SETTING A RED, WHITE, AND BLUE TABLE

Do you have big plans for the long weekend? I really don't, but I do have a patriotic tablescape in my dining room to enjoy for a few days. I'm showing it to you today and sharing the easy process for setting a holiday table--or any table for that matter.
