5 things I've realized lately...

1. I have the best friends, family, and support system around.

I knew I had great people in my life. I just didn't realize how great. I'm so grateful for the support and encouragement they have given me, especially my tech support husband. I was so nervous about starting the blog. It was probably about two or three years ago that my friend Staci decided to redo her daughter's room. She found a picture on Emily A. Clark's blog that she wanted me to go look at. I did. From then on, I wanted to start my own blog. Finally - years later - the doors opened, and I did it. I'm still a little nervous when I hit the publish button, but I think it was the right move, mostly thanks to the great people around me.

2. I love taking pictures!

I can't believe it took me five years of having a nice camera to actually learn how to use it. I guess it just seemed overwhelming, so I never bothered with the how-to part of it. I should have bothered. Oh well, I'm shooting the future now - trying not to think about the good, quality pictures I might have taken. I'm a little afraid to leave the house without my camera. What if I miss a picture that would be a good post for you guys?

3. I like to write...

...but I really like to edit. Reading the same line, paragraph, or post over and over is appealing to me. I like changing, rearranging, revising, then being pleased about how it ends up when it's time to publish. Part of that is the English teacher in me, and part of it is Billl McBride's influence in my senior high school English class.

4. Blogging is a lot of (fun) work.

When you combine all of the above, you get the fun. It does take time and there is much to learn, but I look forward to sitting down with it each evening. I'm probably spending too much time on Woodbank Lane, but you know how it is when you have something new and enjoyable in your life. I hope to get better and better with all of it - the pictures, the topic ideas, the writing, the technology.

5. I like to blog more than I like to put up clean clothes.

Just ask my family. I'm keeping the clothes washed, but for the first month or so after starting Woodbank Lane, our dining room table stayed covered in folded, clean clothes. The most surprising thing - I wasn't even bothered! We put up a few stacks here and there, then just added more stacks to the table. Too bad I didn't take a picture of that for you!

Thanks for reading... I hope it's a great weekend!
