Fall is my favorite time of year, and this year I've decided it's also the easiest season when it comes to decorating. Simple fall touches are easy and can be added without emptying your wallet! Just walk outside.
Here's how...
1. BRANCHES
Take a walk right out your front or back door, and look around your yard. Evaluate the trees, bushes, and plants. Snip a branch or two, find a tall vessel, add water, and trim until you like the shape. If you feel like your yard doesn't have anything suitable, check with a neighbor. I bet they will have something to spare. Of course you can also add faux branches like I did here. Below are two other examples.

2. ACORNS
I found the prettiest little crystal footed bowl one weekend in September while thrifting. I knew immediately I could use it for fall decorating and pretty quickly had an idea of what I would put in it. Every time I go outside, I grab a few more and add them to the dish.
3. PINECONES
Another freebee! I keep pinecones rounded up in my décor closet all the time. I know I'll use them during the holiday season. Add them anywhere and in any room. Put them in a bowl, use them in a center piece on a table, fill lanterns with them, or put them on top of a stack of books.
4. PUMPKINS
I love to add white pumpkins. I sometimes use the traditional orange, but I think white is my favorite. I usually purchase mine at the grocery store, but this year I found them for a great price at P & P Produce in town. They look good anywhere and in any vignette.
I hope I've inspired you to shop your yard and bring a little fall inside. :-)
