NINE SUMMER FAVORITES

I know many of you don't have to worry about back-to-school until the middle or even closer to the end of August. You're so lucky!! In Alabama, sadly, we head back in less than two weeks. But for those of you who will be summering much longer than me, here are a few items that I loved all summer long. Some I use all the time and some I just came across.

By far, my favorite little sandal of the summer is this one from Franco Sarto.  I found mine early in June at T J Maxx, but they are still available on line. They were comfortable and never once hurt my feet from the minute I started wearing them. They also come in black.

My year-round lotion is this one by Nivea. It is a little heavy, but I like the slight shine it leaves. I don't tan well and have the fairest skin, so during the summer months I use this self tanner by Jergens. It works great (and the smell isn't too bad)!

Here are two sunscreen products I love. My son plays tennis and uses this one by Coppertone, and I use it as well on everything but my face. For my face I like this Timewise moisturizing sun screen by Mary Kay.

I've shared this favorite nail product before. I promise you if you are having trouble growing your nails, you will thank me for this one. I would show you my nails, but I think I'll spare you the age spots. :-) I tell everyone I know about this Sally Hansen product.

And last, but not nearly the least, the three things I throw on when I don't want to put my entire "face" on to leave the house. You know what I mean? Cover Girl Mascara, Wet n Wild Lips (there are tons of colors), Rimmel Lip Liner.

Here are all the links to the products one more time for quick reference--in case you want to try any for yourself.

Those are my favorites. Have you come across something new that you've loved this summer?

Fun find follow up....

So, here's how I ended up using my Fun Find from a few Fridays back - succulents...

Succulents have to be some of the most interesting plants. I decided the bowls would make cute planters, so I made a trip to The Plant Lady. The Plant Lady is a local nursery where I like to shop when it's time to summer up our neck of the woods. They have a fabulous supply of indoor and outdoor plants, ferns, hanging baskets, ceramic planters - they have it all. And, because I need all the help I can get with plants, I really appreciate the knowledgeable and helpful staff. They also provide ferns to help us decorate for special events at my high school, so I like to support them in return. I left with three plants. This will be my first attempt to grow these. They promised they are hardy.

If I've identified this one correctly, it is called Green Rose Bud. I Googled it!

This one is Jade. I know I'm right on this one - it was written on the container :-)

And finally, the Flapjack. This one is probably the most interesting of the three.

My bowls don't have drainage holes in them, so I covered the bottoms with some left over pebbles to keep them from sitting in water. When I do water them, I'm careful to pour off the extra water. I hope this will work. The directions were to let them completely dry out before watering.

After almost two weeks,  I'm pleased to report they are still alive and doing well!

Friday fun find...

I tried not to bring these home with me, but I didn't try hard enough.

I love a black and white combination in just about anything.

Ross opened in our city a few years ago in a shopping center I don't stop by very often. But, when I do, I go in Ross and seem to always find a little something. They have great kitchen gadgets and decorative household items - like these bowls - and great prices. All three of these were less than $12.

I have an idea for how I want to use them. If it comes to fruition, I'll let you know!

Have a great weekend...

a fun find...

A hand written note is my favorite thing to see in my mailbox. Do you love them, too? It means someone paused briefly and thought of me during their day. They are few and far between in this technology age, so I treasure a note more and more. I try to send one myself when I can. T J Maxx carries a great selection of stationery, and over the weekend I found these pretty boxed sets. I bought two - one for me and one for a Woodbank Lane reader. My first GIVE AWAY!
