A NEW JOB FOR AN OLD DRESSER - FOLLOW UP

A few weeks ago, I shared a spot in our bedroom that was getting a refresh. Read that post here. We had a dark, older piece of furniture housing our television in the master bedroom, and we swapped it out with the dresser our daughter didn't take to college.

I had this medallion that I wanted to use, but I didn't want it to be black hanging over a black television. Spray paint to the rescue.

I chose the gold because the skinny lamps I would be using were also gold toned, and there's a gold trim on the dresser (until I get around to painting it!).

Here's where I started...

Then the lamps.

There's only a small surface area, so the table top decorations needed to be small and I didn't want to obstruct the view. We do actually watch the television. :-) I added books to both sides with a touch of color on top.

Some green was next.

And finally, the refreshed medallion.

All together now...

The small dresser opened up the room and made it feel much more spacious. I haven't missed the armoire at all.  Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest differences.

Yes, that's Al Roker. :-)

I hope you're having a great summer. Ours is quickly coming to an end. School starts officially Friday, August fifth for the teachers, but I'll start setting up my classroom on August first.
