15 GIFT IDEAS FOR FATHER'S DAY

Now it's dad's turn--time to think about the fathers out there. Father's Day is June 21st, and will be here before you know it. Maybe this gift guide will help you get rid of the guess work.

Here are 15 ideas for Dad that I've rounded up from all over the place. Surely there is something here he will like. Let's see...

1. For the dad with a beard, a maintenance kit that includes a storage bag.

2. A military-style work watch. I really like the handsome look of it, and it has good reviews.

3. For the coffee-drinking dad, a handled Yeti coffee mug.

4. I wouldn't mind having this digital measuring tape myself.

5. This catch all, leather tray is great for keeping clutter off the kitchen counters. My husband was recently gifted one of these, and he is actually using it.

6. Portable car vacuum. I want one of these as well.

7. How about a water-proof blue tooth speaker? If he's washing his car (or yours!), it won't matter if it gets wet.

8. And speaking of music, wireless earbuds are a thought.

9. For the cook in the house, a tool set for the grill.

10. A t-shirt that says it all.

11. For the dad who uses a lot of technology, blue light blocking glasses.

12. Back and neck massager, with heat.

13. If your dad is traveling this summer or travels with his work, this is a good-looking travel bag.

14. Did you watch the space launch? A space read is timely.

15.  And finally, how about a putting green for the golfers.

Hopefully this helped you figure out an idea or two for dad.

1. These are the cutest gloves for working in the yard or potting plants and flowers.

2. I've been looking for picture frames and love the rope border on this one. It comes in three sizes.

4. Beautiful. A decorating and design book by Mark D. Sikes. It's one of my favorites.

5. Something blue and white. Every house should have a touch of it. This set of three comes in several different patterns.

6. This flower is perfect in any room. I love orchids in all vignettes. Order two and she can use them on a pair of nightstands or the mantel.

When I'm out of school for the summer, I'm not too good at keeping up with dates or the days. For example, I mailed my father-in-law his gift this week because I thought Father's Day was this Sunday! A few ideas for the moms out there...

Hard to believe it's almost time for Mom's special day again. I've chosen three things she might like in case you're ready to get shopping...

I'm one of those girls who usually carries a fairly large bag, but this year I ditched the big one for a cross body. I LOVE THE CHANGE! It frees up my hands for carrying other things, and it's also easier when I'm trying to find something in the bag. They may look small, but I have a wallet, glasses' case, check book, pens, and a little make-up in mine--with room to spare.

My second idea I've mentioned to you before. You can read more about Luca+Danni here. Their jewelry selections are so pretty and reasonably priced. You'll enjoy perusing through their inventory--something for every mom.

My third idea would also make a good wedding gift. I have The Nesting Place and have really enjoyed it. The other ones are on my wish list. Lots of style diversity in the books. Your mom's style or your style is in there somewhere. Fresh ideas are always fun.

Modern Mix
BHG New Decorating Book
Domino The Book of Decorating
The Nesting Place
Elements of Style

Now you have a few ideas to get you started.
Happy Friday!!

Home Goods Happy

Those of you following me on Instagram know over the weekend I whined just a little about not having a Home Goods in my town. The nearest one is about an hour away, not too far and certainly doable in a day, but it would be much nicer to have one right down the road.

Last weekend, my husband and I got out for a bit by ourselves. We made the trip to Home Goods and a few other places, had lunch, and then headed home. So why would it be nice to have one in our town?

Here are my thoughts on that question...

When it's time to replace something in your kitchen, they've got you covered.

Need a wedding gift or a serving dish? There are lots of lovely of choices.

Ready to update a room or change things around for the upcoming season? There's not a better or more inexpensive way to do it than swapping out your pillows. As you can see, Home Goods can help.

And lamps...they have a great selection every time I'm in there.

Reasonable home furnishing pieces like accent tables, end tables, coffee tables, or bedside tables.

And last but not least, seasonal merchandise.

See what I mean? Home Goods would be a welcomed addition to our town. Who knows? Maybe all you local readers could email them like I did and asked them to come or perhaps they'll run across this post and be convinced. :-)

Do you have a favorite place to shop for home furnishings?

Kathryn

One more thing... My first year of blogging is coming to an end, and I would love to know what you think. I added a quick, short survey in my side bar to get a little feedback as I start to think about year two and my readers' interests. If you have time, will you vote? Or if you want to share other thoughts, email me at woodbanklane@gmail.com or you can always click on the comment link below. Looking forward to hearing from you!

A fun idea for necklaces...

Good Tuesday to you! Hopefully you all had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed some time with family and friends. The weather almost kept my in laws (Nana and Papaw) away, but they eventually made it. So much rain in the south this week. I did see the sun for a total of eight minutes today! It feels more like the early days of summer instead of the middle of winter. Rumor has it, cooler temps and more sunshine are on the way.  :-)

Last week when my daughter and I were finishing up our shopping, we stepped into our local Aeropostale. Unfortunately, they are going out of business and selling everything in the store, including the fixtures. So, for her last gift from Santa, we grabbed this...

What a fun way to keep up with necklaces. I kept "Manni" in a corner in my bedroom until it was time for Santa to put him by the tree. I had the perfect empty spot for him. I'm missing him now that he's gone. Once my daughter gets him set up in his new corner at her place, I'll show you how he turns out. She has more than three necklaces, so I'm sure he'll look even better in his next appearance.

Did you get or give an odd or interesting gift at your house? Comment below and tell us about it...

Gift ideas for newly weds...

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The weather has been beautiful in Alabama for almost the entire week! Add a little family, and it made for a fantastic day.

I'm guessing many of you did some shopping yesterday. I didn't. I worked around my house getting some of the Christmas decor out and did a little cleaning. I am, however, thinking about shopping and the names on my list, and I will start one of these days.

Do you have any newly weds on your Christmas list this year? I know lots of friends who do. Here are some ideas...

I love the gifts in this Etsy shop.

The Sister Studio

Start a Christmas table setting for them and add to it each year.

Fitz and Floyd

How about a wreath for their front door?

Nordstrom Pinecone Wreath

Or maybe a decorating book to help them get started making their house a home.

Domino

Actually, I bet almost everyone--newly wed or not--would appreciate any of the four of these!

A gift idea for bridesmaids...

It's official - I'll be the oldest bridesmaid in history come January, but I don't mind. It's been years, probably twenty-five, since I've adorned a flowing, fancy dress for a friend. Remember all those single teachers at my school I told you we were marrying off one at a time? Well, another one is engaged, and I get to be part of it.

If you or someone you know is getting married, consider this cute idea for the bridesmaids. This is the gift delivered with my invitation to be a member of the wedding party. It's a Mason jar filled with manicure goodies, sealed up with the colors my friend has chosen for her wedding.

It's the year of weddings for me. The daughter of one of my closest friends marries two weeks before the one I'm part of and one of my best girl friends from high school will marry in May of 2016. I'm looking forward to each of them! Who doesn't love the opportunity to dress up and celebrate the happiness of those we love?

Ideas for Mom...

If you're still shopping for Mother's Day, or if you're like me and haven't even started, here are a few trendy ideas:

4. A TJ MAXX GIFT CARD (my favorite, if anyone asks you)

5. A TUNIC

I really like the tunic myself. It looks like the perfect teacher top. I'm thinking my mom and I could both use one. Don't you agree?

I'll be telling you a little about my mom this week in A Sunday Thought.
See you then. Have a great weekend!
